Milipol Paris 2015 actively supports new entrepreneurs and innovation by organising the very first edition of the MILIPOL STARTUP CHALLENGE. Start-ups are currently the main players for innovation and progress. The contest will reward THE start-up that will present THE most innovative Cyber solution in the fight against crime.
Thanks to this challenge, today’s entrepreneurs and tomorrow’s champions will have the opportunity to enhance their visibility and secure financial support thanks to Milipol Paris in order to accompany their development.
The candidate organisations (both exhibitors and non-exhibitors) have had to be part of, or work in areas pertaining to cybersecurity, to have already successfully marketed one or two products and been in existence for more than 2 years. These criteria will allow the jury to select relatively mature start-ups and to concentrate on innovations that are already present on the market.
Five finalists will be selected. They will have the opportunity to present their innovations during live 10 minutes « pitch sessions » at the exhibition centre on Thursday 19th November from 10 am onwards in front of the jury, exhibitors and visitors.
The winning start-up will be given an exceptional award worth 5 000€, will have a fully equipped 6 square metre stand at Milipol Paris 2017 and will benefit from incomparable media coverage during the show.
In order to compete, start-ups have to fill our online form before 15 September 2015:

“Cyber-crime is expanding considerably. Theft, blackmail, extortion, commercial espionage, price manipulation, sales of counterfeit products, trading of illicit substances and even contract killings: everything can now transit by or is entirely operated within cyberspace. McAffee/CSIS considers that cyber-crime represents about 0.5% of the world’s GDP, which is already nearly half of the market value for illicit drugs”, explains Guy-Philippe Goldstein, a Strategy Consultant.
“This new category of crime displays a lot of creativity. « Ransomwares » encrypt hard drives and reset the originals against small ransoms – and this guarantees the effectiveness of the malware’s demands. Multiplied by millions of users, the technique allows extortion of huge sums on a very large scale. Cybercrime could also one day grow into something even more fatal: the example of the remote takeover of a Cherokee Jeep by researchers Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek illustrates the dangers of poorly secured connected objects”.
“The face-off between criminals and law enforcement entities is now set on the stage of a fast-paced technological competition for innovation. Quick acting units that start-ups usually represent are often the ones that we can count on to track down those innovative activities. And the need for them to cooperate with the various institutions in charge of civilian security is even more critical these days”, he confirmed.
