OT systems are a prime target due to their criticality and the potential impact if these systems are disrupted. As the number and capability of threat actor targeting OT increases, so too does the need for robust cyber security controls.
However, the complexity, scale, and long-standing nature of OT systems often means organisations can lack a holistic view of their environment, which undermines their ability to implement effective cyber security measures. Traditionally, OT networks were isolated (or ‘air-gapped’) from the internet and external systems. However, modern operational demands have led to increased connectivity as networks now integrate with enterprise systems, third-party vendors and cloud services. This makes designing appropriate security controls increasingly critical, to reduce the risks to previously isolated systems.

August 28, 2026
On August 27, 2026, PaperCut Software published an urgent security advisory stating that it is investigating active exploitation of a vulnerability affecting PaperCut NG and PaperCut MF. PaperCut has confirmed customer incidents and is treating the issue as a security emergency. At the initial time of disclosure, the vulnerability had not been assigned a CVE identifier, and ...
- An open letter for a global surge in cyber defense
August 27, 2026
We have a limited window to strengthen cyber defenses. In the coming months, AI-enabled cyber attacks will become far more widespread and sophisticated as models around the world become increasingly capable. The companies and public services our communities depend on—from hospitals to water treatment plants to the infrastructure that powers the internet—are at risk. Today’s AI advances ...
- Securing the overlooked corners of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) supply chain
August 21, 2026
While supply chain threats have been quietly compounding over the past decade, the last 12–18 months have triggered a drastic shift in the scale and velocity of these attacks. Rather than just hunting for bugs in finished software, attackers are targeting the everyday tools and code developers rely on. Unit 42 research shows this happening at ...
- Identity abuse through trusted communication channels
August 20, 2026
Identity has become a primary security boundary for most organizations, reducing the ability to solely trust other boundaries once associated with corporate networks. Users authenticate to cloud services using enterprise identities that provide access to collaboration platforms, business applications and sensitive data. With the adoption of software-as-a-service (SaaS) on the rise, people are shifting to ...
- ‘Proactive SIM’ cards can hijack smartphones, IoT devices and even EV chargers
August 18, 2026
A malicious SIM card can instruct the device it sits in to run commands of an attacker’s choosing, and on the cellular modules embedded in electric vehicle chargers, industrial routers, and car telematics units, essentially allowing it to take the entire device over. Researchers from the University of Birmingham and the German security firm Fuzzware demonstrated ...
- Mitigating large-scale credential attacks
August 18, 2026
Identity has effectively become the new perimeter, where cybercriminals are increasingly choosing to log in rather than break in. To accomplish this, attackers frequently gather previously leaked username and password pairs. Gathering these credentials can then allow them to pivot to password spraying against services exposed to the internet, gaining credentials for other products and ...
