Early this month, the EU, Japan, and the US recently conducted a joint cybersecurity training program as part of a series of dialogues on digital policies held last February 2021. The dialogues led to an agreement to strengthen the countries’ partnership on issues like platform regulation and industrial research.
The training program was developed over the past year as the first digital output of the EU-Japan Connectivity Partnership, which aims to establish a connectivity partnership based on sustainability as a shared value, quality infrastructure, and belief in the benefits of a level playing field. It was also part of the Japan-US Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Cybersecurity Week, tackling the security of devices, systems, networks, and controls used in industrial processes.
Under the Information-technology Promotion Agency (IPA) and in partnership with the US government, Japan’s Ministry of Economic, Trade, and Industry (METI) and the Industrial Cyber Security Center of Excellence (ICSCoE) hosted the ICS Cybersecurity Week online from March 8 to 12, 2021.
