Malaysia to introduce new cybercrime bill to replace outdated computer crimes act


The government is drafting a new Cybercrime Bill aimed at strengthening Malaysia’s legal framework against the growing threat of online fraud, digital manipulation and emerging cyber risks.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (Bagan Datuk-BN) said the bill, led by the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA), will replace the Computer Crimes Act 1997 (Act 563), which is no longer sufficient to address modern cyber threats.
